As I turned the lock at City Hall I stopped to think “I can not believe it, I have the keys to the City.”

It is such an honor and a privilege to have this job. When I pray to God I ask him to not let me mess

this up, to give me the wisdom and energy to do this job better then it has ever been done before.



What have we been up to?

Cleaning up

·          Junk cars removed

·          Four houses demolished

·          Cleaned up and graded city owned lots at Railroad and Main

Water and Sewer

·          Ran lines under I-55 down Will Road to Kennedy

·          Completed agreement with Exelon for Waste Water Treatment

·          Made many tough decisions on construction of the new Waste Water Treatment Plant

 

Streets and Drainage

 

·          Repaved many streets in the park areas; Novy Road and Townes of Braidwood

·          Fixed storm sewers in Comet Estates and English Street

·          Completed drainage project on Eureka Street

 

Development

·          Moved BP project forward

·          Quizno’s is coming to town

·          Body shop opened on Route 53

·          Met with potential businesses and developed a marketing plan

·          Sold part of vacant downtown property for a new and much improved Casey’s

 

Amenities

 

·          Started building “Welcome Center” pavilion

·          Moved ‘Braidwood’ signs in preparation for landscaping

·          Put park benches in downtown areas to make walks simpler for our residents

 

Unclassified

·          Revamped our cities’ website

·          Building fees reduced for maintenance projects

 

Projects started

 

·          Establish TIF III

·          Annex property for future growth

·          Fight High Speed Railroad Siding

·          Form Economic Development Committee

·          Get boarded up and junk buildings into Demolition court

·          Getting people and organizations working together
